After reading about the Always-On Generation, there were many thoughts running through my head. To start, I realized I am on the brink of being part of that generation because I was born in 1990. My childhood and education did not revolve around electronics or techy-devices. Rather, my parents always put me into sports or had me ride my bike. On the other hand, there are many people my age that are consumed by technology and the fast acting devices that are trending.
Within the article, I was most intrigued by the collection of remarks because there was a lot of truth in those statements. I agree that it will have some benefits in an educational setting since students will be successful at multi-tasking and researching. I also think it will gradually decrease the attention span and social skills of students from now to 2020. All in all, technology is continuing to get quicker and people are always expecting fast answers or solutions.
At the end of the article, two statements were made. One of them proposed the Always-On Generation would primarily have a positive effect on education and the other suggested the outcome would be mostly negative. I choose to side with neither of these statements because I think it will be an even mix of good and bad. Everyone is different, so the outcome in 2020 will likely be a blend of both scenarios.
